Boys earn District semifinal win in overtime

The varsity boys’ basketball team beat East Jordan 53-48 in overtime on Wednesday night to make it to the District final for the second year in a row under coach Lee Nash. They will play Charlevoix in Charlevoix Friday evening at 7 p.m.

In the first quarter the boys had a slow start but with good defense were able to keep East Jordan close and not let them get too far ahead. With the score at the end of the first quarter being 9-7 with the Red Devils leading.

In the second quarter, the Bulldogs Were starting to warm up and hit some shots and were still playing good defense and were able to play a little more aggressive to try to force the Red Devils to turn the ball over. Going into the half the boys had the lead with the score of 23-19.

The boys played a hard fought battle in the first half where shots just weren’t falling and were turning the ball over a lot but with the good defense could keep the game close.

As the second half started the boys knew they were they were in for a battle.
